NRA Gunsmithing Schools

There are four NRA approved affiliated schools across the country who offer short-term gunsmithing courses to aspiring gunsmiths. These courses are head during the spring and summer months, and can range from several days to two weeks. Prices vary according to the course and school. The number of students are limited in each course, and due to popularity, they fill up quickly - so be sure to secure your spot today!

Montgomery Community College

Courses are taught by nationally and internationally known gunsmiths, armorers and craftsmen who share their expertise in courses ranging from basic to advanced techniques. Most courses combine a hands-on and lecture format and range from three days to two weeks in length.

The Gunsmithing School at Trinidad State Junior College has a long tradition of excellence. But don’t take our word for it. Our affiliation with the National Rifle Association assures students that the TSJC Summer NRA program is high quality. For nine glorious weeks, the finest craftsmen and artists from the Gunsmithing world gather in Southern Colorado to offer hands-on courses to students from all over the nation and the world. Murray State College

Murray State College, in cooperation with the National Rifle Association, began offering gunsmithing and law enforcement armorer schools in the summer of 1994. The school offers courses in repair & function of rifles, auto pistols, revolvers, and shotguns. Other classes include bluing, re-barreling, alternative finishes, stock repair and refinishing, and more. This is a six week program and these classes are not credited at this time. Each student receives a certificate for each class attended.

As an NRA affiliated Gunsmithing school, we also offer one and two week NRA Short Term Gunsmithing Courses during the Summer. Courses are offered in Basic Machine Shop, Barreling, specific firearms platforms, Law Enforcement Armorers Schools, engraving, Knife making, and metal finishes.
